Frequently asked questions

How long does a certified translation take?
It depends on the document, its length and how busy we are. We review what you send and give you a price and an estimate before we start; if you have a deadline, tell us on WhatsApp so we can say whether it is possible.
Will my translation be accepted by USCIS or the DMV?
The office that receives your document decides whether to accept it, so we cannot promise that. Every translation we prepare is complete and comes with a signed certification of accuracy. USCIS, the NJ MVC, courts, schools and consulates can each have their own requirements — if you know of specific wording or a format they want, tell us before we start and confirm with them if you are unsure.
Do I need to send the original document?
In most cases a clear photo or scan is enough. We'll tell you if the original is needed for your specific case.
What is a certified translation?
It is a complete translation of a document — nothing left out, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes that can be read — together with a signed statement that the translation is accurate. It is normally submitted with a copy of the original document.
Does USCIS require certified translations?
USCIS asks that any document in another language be submitted with a full English translation and the translator's certification that it is complete and accurate and that the translator is competent to translate from the foreign language into English (8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)). What your particular case needs is a question for USCIS, its instructions for your form, or a licensed immigration attorney.
Does a certified translation need to be notarized?
The USCIS rule describes the translator's certification and does not mention notarization. Some other recipients — certain courts, agencies, schools or foreign consulates — may ask for a notarized translation, so check with the office that requested it. If you need one, we also offer notary services at our Paterson office.
Can I translate my own document?
The USCIS rule asks the translator to certify competence in both languages and does not say who may translate. Some offices and courts prefer a translation prepared by someone other than the person it concerns, which is why many people use a translation service. Check with the receiving office if you are unsure.
Do you translate from Spanish to English and from English to Spanish?
Yes. Most requests are Spanish to English, and we also translate English documents into Spanish — for example a U.S. certificate that you need to use abroad, which may also need an apostille (see our apostille services). We handle French, Italian, Portuguese and other languages on request.
Can I send my documents electronically?
Yes. A clear, complete photo or scan is usually enough for us to prepare the translation — use the form on this page or message us on WhatsApp. You receive the translation as a PDF, or you can pick it up. We will tell you if your case needs the original.
Do you serve customers outside Paterson?
Yes. Our office is in Paterson, NJ; in the Spring, Klein and Houston area of Texas we work by appointment; and customers elsewhere in the United States can send documents remotely and receive the translation electronically.
How much does a certified translation cost?
The price depends on the document, its length and complexity. We review what you send and give you the price before we start, so there is no surprise afterward.

OG Multiservices LLC prepares certified translations of personal and official documents between Spanish and English — birth, marriage and divorce certificates, IDs, passports, school records and legal papers — and handles French, Italian, Portuguese and other languages on request. Each translation is complete and comes with a signed certification of accuracy.

A certified translation is a complete translation accompanied by a signed statement that it is accurate. For immigration filings, USCIS asks that a foreign-language document be submitted with a full English translation and the translator's certification that it is complete and accurate and that the translator is competent to translate from the foreign language into English (see 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)). Requirements differ between agencies, courts, schools and consulates, so confirm what your receiving office wants; we cannot promise that any particular office will accept a document.
